Wheaten Bran is a raw material with a relatively low energy value and has an intermediate protein content of about 14% as a characteristic.

It is useful as an extender (or “filler”) for making concentrate rations more bulky (“fluffier” or “lighter”). The bran typically has quite a high phosphorus content. There is normally no problem with palatability. Similar products would be “pollard” and “middling”.
